Intricacy

An intricate design

This winding staircase

Twisting like twine

And white threaded lace

An entanglement of lies

A web, as you may call it

Where liars become flies

And the spiders outwit

You do belong here, my dear

I’ll say so for certain

For those who are too afraid

To pull back your curtain

Since we’ve struggled within this web

You can’t fool me with your guises

As your life begins to ebb

Only one question arises

Who, exactly, are we? Am I?

Would it happen to be that I,

The spider,

And you,

The fly?

I apologize for not posting much, I entered a poetry competition with my poem ‘Intricacy’ a little while back and tied for second place. It is being published elsewhere but to my knowledge, since I am the creator of the poem, I believe I am allowed to post it here as well. If I am incorrect on this please inform me, thank you!
